Dog Sled Ride

There are so many scenes that I just love to enjoy. This particular scene was on Mirror Lake in Lake Placid, New York. You don’t have to go to Alaska to enjoy a dog sled ride on the frozen lake! I was inspired to capture this wonderful winter scene that brings so much joy to so many. The backdrop with the mountains covered in snow just framed this winter wonderland. I wanted to paint the colors of the late day with the pastel hues cast by the setting sun giving a soft warm glow over the coolness of the winter temperatures.

I used Gamblin Oil Paint on Archival DaVinci Pro Cradled Wood Panel, varnished with Gamvar. There is no need for a frame with this panel! It is pre wired and ready to hang on your wall as soon as you receive it!
