Summer Birch Trail Marker

This is one of my most favorite subjects to paint. As any hiker can tell you, these trail markers are key to finding your path during your hike. All over the Adirondacks, you will see them. I happen to be inspired to share the joy when I see one of these, not only to stop and catch my breath, but to enjoy the way the light hits the marker and the tree. The shadows are dramatic and the beauty of the surrounding forest is just one of the many pleasures I get when hiking in the Adirondacks. Every time I look at it, it reminds me of how much I love the adventures of hiking in this area.

I painted this painting using Gamblin Oil paints on Archival Birch Wood Panel. It is varnished with Gamvar, pre-wired so it is ready to hang as soon as you receive it.
