There is a gem of a spot in the Adirondacks where this waterfall attracts people to come on a hot summer’s day to swim and cool off. It has a quality to it that the water just cascades and splits around the rocks creating these pools in several spots. It isn’t visible from the road, but worth the effort to walk down through the trees to enjoy such a pretty spot. I was inspired to paint this just when the leaves started to turn in September. It just seemed that the sun made everything glow bright yellows and oranges around the cool blue pools of water. I wanted to capture the feeling of the way the light pulled the warmth surrounding the cool flow of the water as it trickled and splashed around the rocks and ended up in a quiet pool at the base.
I used Gamblin Oil Paint on archival Fredrix Pro Canvas and varnished with Gamvar. It is framed in a gold floating frame and pre-wired so you can hang it up as soon as you receive it!
