Marcy Field is one of those special places for so many people visiting the Adirondacks. Whether you are on your way to Lake Placid for Summer hiking in the High Peaks, Summer events, or just vacationing, you will notice this beautiful field with the “Holt House” on the street edge. Farmer’s Markets every Sunday and that little orange wind sock guiding the little airplane landing on the grassy runway. More than likely, a storm will come rolling through on a hot Summer’s day. And boy, can it be a dramatic event. I wanted to capture that feeling of the clouds rolling over quickly obscuring the blue skies. The angry grumble and sudden downpour that covers the field for a few moments. As quickly as it rolls in, it rolls right out and the blue skies open up. I just love that lively movement these stormy clouds bring over such an iconic spot.
I painted using Gamblin Oil Paint, varnished with Gamvar. It is framed in a Gold Floating Frame and is pre-wired and ready to hang as soon as you receive it.
